At the start of this new Methodist year, nearly all Wesley Guilds will be starting a new session of afternoons or evenings when members meet for fellowship, with perhaps speakers or meetings when they have some input themselves – maybe discussions, or craft or social event. All Guilds have some devotional content each meeting and in some cases once a month a whole evening of spiritual encouragement.
September sees our Annual General Meeting and we are delighted some Guilds have taken the opportunity to accept the invitation to attend. This meeting helps us all to see the “bigger picture” rather than just our parochial situation.
As a reminder perhaps for those new Guilds or those with new officials there are booklets available on programme planning and opening devotions.
We would love to hear from your Guild about new ideas or just what you have been doing or are planning.
Do you have a special Guild Anniversary Sunday in your Church? If you would like any help preparing for such an event, including a visiting speaker, don’t hesitate to contact one of the Executive and we’ll do our best to help.
Christmas is looming on the horizon and I wonder how many Guilds take the opportunity for some outreach or inviting friends or neighbours to come to the Guild Carol service if you have one?
With every good wish for the coming autumn session
